I would stay away from trials; all they will do is get you to learn a tool that you will need to pay for in the future. Davinci Resolve is free, and I would say it covers most needs initially.

I would not recommend spending any time comparing features. Speaking from experience, I spent so much time looking at features and figuring out what best works for me, instead of picking a free tool and just getting started.

I always say that you should get the best that you can afford. I also think that it’s important to remember that your expertise is not likely to be in video production. I have used Final Cut Pro for years because I have produced my own television shows in the past. However, these days I have my staff create basic short form videos in iMovie. The best program that I have come across recently is definitely Opus Clip! It helps me to produce amazingly powerful shorts for social media without me having to sit for hours to do it! Fantastic tool and you only pay for the time length of the video you convert. Amazing! 🤩

Testing the softwares is a very important step before getting into purchasing one, specially when there are premium softwares one is looking at - most of premium softwares offer free subscription for sometime until certain period, but with a payment commitment onwards. The catch is that such softwares must be tested by Power users, who're already hands on video editing softwares, and a good opinion must be sought related to possible bugs etc.

Will begin with evaluating what kind of video my team or I need & for what purpose & where I will use the same i.e. social media, presentation or providing insight on a new innovation. Animated visual communication significantly enhances ability for recall as compared to text, images or speech & hence is an important communication tool. Will then look into various video making/editing tools & depending upon the subject matter simplicity will try and use one of them. However, for making an impactful video on a product innovation or an important communication representing the organization, it is better to hire a professional video maker as voice over and script creation & finalising is an art which requires creativity & different skillsets.

Videos are too flamboyant. I prefer to speak face to face or virtually or write an article on concepts. I really prefer writing. It kicks in the grey cells, and gives the flexibility to play with thoughts and words. And I have never been able to work out of a script. Am way too impromptu for that. When the thoughts come, they just flow. Anyone is free to take a video of it, but it wouldn't be me. 😀
