2022 Grantee Spotlight – Peninsula Food Runners. Peninsula Food Runners received a $40,000 Impact Award from the 100 WOMEN CHARITABLE FOUNDATION in 2022 . Peninsula Food Runners’ mission is to alleviate hunger and minimize food waste in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. Every day, its volunteers pick up and deliver a wide variety of wonderfully prepared and non-prepared surplus food to community organizations that feed their clients in need. The award from the 100 Women Charitable Foundation allowed Peninsula Food Runners to initiate hiring a program manager/driver to help manage donations and deliveries in Santa Clara. This role permits Peninsula Food Runners to recover more food and support the increased requests for meals from its partners (such as shelters, schools, and homeless programs, among others). Congratulations to Learning Home Volunteers on receiving a $45,000 Impact Grant from 100 WOMEN CHARITABLE FOUNDATION! Emily Evans represented LHV and shared how LHV partners with low-income families in County of San Mateo to help every 2- to 5-year-old child get an equal start at school by improving their kindergarten readiness - the #1 predictor of academic success. The grant from 100 Women will provide wrap-around support for an additional 50 local low-income children ensuring that they are not only kindergarten ready but are at parity with their more affluent peers. LHV will empower and equip the parents to act as their child’s teacher and prepare the parents to be an advocate for their child with the school system and wherever else needed. https://lnkd.in/edj_UaC8 #children #family #parents #education #kindergarten

Congratulations to Live In Peace Inc. on receiving a $14,500 Investment Grant from 100 WOMEN CHARITABLE FOUNDATION! Heather Starnes-Logwood represented L.I.P. and shared how L.I.P. has been an integral part of the East Palo Alto community for over two decades and is driven by a simple yet powerful principle: we are family! The grant from 100 Women will help L.I.P. make its SWAG (Students Who Achieve Greatness) program stronger and enable more students to participate in the program. The best way to fight systemic racism, poverty, and generational curses is to arm oneself with education and a vision for your life and the SWAG high school program does that for youth. https://lnkd.in/giH-3_M2 #family #youthempowerment #education
