Are you searching for ways to outpace your competition?
About us
What do many businesses do that they need to avoid? Focus too narrowly on their competition. By focusing instead on three key elements, almost every business can surpass their competition. What are those key elements? #1 - Who is your end-user and what problem do you solve for them? Add to this an assessment of how their current solution works and how yours provides some sort of superior outcome. #2 - Who is your buyer? Who actually will write the PO and the check to secure your product or service? This group tends to have different needs or problems than the end user and you should make sure you understand and can answer for those needs (along with your "better mousetrap" pitch). #3 - Who is the main influencer? There are the people that are often out of site at first glance. They have a quiet voice in meetings but behind the scenes can wield great power. Highlighting them and their desires or reluctance and you can remove another roadblock in your path. #1 is the Emotional Buyer and #3 is the Rational Buyer (#2 is a unique blend of the two) and your job is to create both an emotional response with all three and provide the rational support needed to close the deal. How to do this? This is the secret sauce - the unique blend of Sales Process and Marketing Storytelling that can help you stand out from your competition - and view them as a source of information but no longer a source of worry. If you want to build a better narrative to help you stand out from the crowd then let's talk. It is amazing how good you could be if you had the best direction to grow. Leadership - a bit like the weather in that everybody talks about it (and writes about it and mentors about it) but no amount of discussion seems to change the total quality of leadership. That being said, we need to try - as each change (ownership, management, political cycle, etc.) means a new group of "leaders" comes into play - and many are under-equipped to be the leaders they have the potential to be. Our founder hosts a True North Group and this year's topic is leadership and explores the characteristics that make a good leader. We also think that a great leader knows their strengths (and weaknesses) and, if they do not have a natural strength in one area they will find a person to add to their inner circle that has that natural strength. Over the next eight weeks, we will share the outcomes of the various conversations and provide a sneak peek at the topics to be covered later in the year. Here is the list - each capability of the list has three accompanying descriptors that broaden the understanding and application of the capability. The Eight Capabilities are a compilation of current thinking on Leadership Capabilities plus our founder's insights based on his many years in a leadership role and guiding leaders to a better future. We do not include the descriptors here - and encourage you to read each article to dig deeper into what makes a good leader. Critical Thinking Agility & Adaptability Resilience Financial Literacy Empathy Relationship Building Decision Making Integrity & Authenticity Feel free to comment if you feel we are missing something (but we encourage you to also read each post over the next eight weeks as a lack that you see in the above may come out in the descriptors or the conversation/insight. We firmly believe that leadership is a learned skill - and if you work on becoming fascinated with each capability and move on to mastering this capability, your natural leadership ability and passion for building the future will emerge.
