While I’m not convinced that there is only one “soulmate” person on earth for each of us, I can absolutely guarantee that this is not the case when it comes to jobs. I’ve met so many college students and recent grads who are looking for the one “perfect” first job. This is not just false, but a great way to stress yourself out as an entry-level job seeker. While I do think there are a lot of jobs that could make you actively unhappy (such as working alone as a computer programmer when you love interacting with people, or working in sales if you are painfully shy), I’m confident that there are many, many, many jobs that would be a great way to start your career. If you’re feeling totally paralyzed about what to do after college, I recommend opting for one of these three relatively fail-safe options: 1. Take a job where you have a great boss. 2. Work for an organization with a strong and positive reputation. 3. Do something you totally love doing. If you take a job that contains one or more of these elements, I think you’ll have a positive first job experience that gives you lots of room for advancement, happiness, and future success.  Of course, if you can find a job that offers all three of these characteristics, take it immediately! – Getting from College to Career: Third Edition, my first book revised to address the specific challenges Gen Z faces in today's job market, serves as a definitive guide to building experience, skills, and confidence for the modern career search.  It will be available everywhere on September 10th, with pre-orders open today: https://lnkd.in/eTWk4Ku2
