Wall Street has tremendous influence and impact on the US and world economy. Hundreds of thousands of hopefuls every year try to enter this industry lured by top compensation levels, status, and unique experience. Yet, when it comes to actually STARTING a career in this field, the recruitment process is completely unstructured and random. Wall Street never forged clear and transparent career entry pathways the way medical and law fields did in their respective fields. This is especially true in the most prestigious of Wall Street careers: investment banking. Consider the following facts: - Acceptance rate to Analyst roles is less than 1% - Banks recruit from less than 1% of all colleges and universities - 1 out of 3 Analysts hired by banks either quits, jumps firm or is let go – one of the highest churn rates of all industries - Analyst replacement costs banks $150k per head - Society and millennials especially do not tolerate legacy culture of ABC sales and boiler rooms The narrow recruitment funnel adopted by banks of hiring from only “target” left the banks unprepared for the structural, technological, and social changes that happened in our society in the last decade or so. The premise behind establishing 15X Academy was to provide an alternative, open and transparent, institutional level career development platform that educates, trains, and facilitates an entry career pathway into the industry for any student, of any background, of any university (target or non target). The mission of 15X Academy is to accelerate the world's transition to friendly, supportive, inclusive, and without the greed is good virus investment banking culture and to institutionalize a career trail that resembles pathways followed by law and medical students going into their respective fields. The investment banking needs to be held to a higher standard in the way it handles talent finding and development.

15X has very ambitious growth plans to become a respectable investment banking advisory firm and the best place to work on Wall Street. We are presently rolling out our 15X Academy which plays a strategic role in allowing us to source the best banking talent internally and because of how we structured the training program and internship program, to also allow us to pre-bake internally originated transaction opportunities. Our advisory division, 15X Capital Advisory, utilizing our own proprietary method of sourcing deals, is currently working on several investment projects and we are gearing for a fund raise to help us bring execution in house. One of the limiting factors in investment banking recruiting process that could have improved diversity and inclusion outcomes has been the elitist approach that Wall Street banks adopted in their recruitment process. In the pursuit of finding the best talent, banks have endorsed a candidate selection method that limited the choice of candidates to what banks labeled as "target" schools. This way of doing things did not create an efficient and competitive marketplace for sourcing banking talent. This singular talent funnel worked well for banks because it locked in the esoteric investment banking career development pathway to the banks exclusively. But this way of doing things certainly did not work for hundreds of thousands of students from outside of the "target" schools that were locked out of recruitment opportunities from the start. An industry that touted itself as the pinnacle of free market enterprise and efficiency had inadvertently perpetuated a homogenous recruitment cycle of its rank and file. A smart, brilliant kid from the ghettos in Chicago never stood a chance. 15X and its division 15X Academy aims to turn this whole thing upside down and create an alternative deal making career pathway based on holistic, open, and comprehensive career development and training program that is open to ALL students of ANY background from ANY university. Assessment that looks purely at each candidate individually, their potential and real motivation to enter the industry. This approach is predicated on the premise that talented students with genuine pedigree for the investment banking profession can also be found outside of the so called target schools. Secondarily, by opening up our training and internship opportunities we hope to find, develop, and groom a diverse generation of talented individuals that will not only build successful careers on Wall Street but also "pay it forward" and serve as examples and leaders in the communities from which they came.
