About us

First National Bank was founded in 1908 with a singular mission: provide an extraordinary customer experience. We have honed quality products and efficient services for more than a century, attracting and training top industry talent to deliver on our mission in Lynchburg, Danville, and Charlottesville. Beginning in early 2020, First National Bank embarked on a growth period which saw the acquisition of the former Virginia Bank & Trust in the Danville market, as well as the opening of our eleventh retail location in Central Virginia. At First National Bank, we are accountable to all of our stakeholders, which extends beyond clients and shareholders: we are stewards of our communities. Through corporate giving and employee led Community Impact Foundation, First National Bank supports local non-profits in our markets, with specific focus on economic development, education, financial literacy, the arts, assisting those in crisis, providing for healthy and independent living, and developing successful children and youth.

  • Recently, our very own Susan McLamb and Kathy Bane attended the kick-off ceremony for the Virginia Reads One Book (VAROB) program at Meadville Elementary School! We are proud to sponsor Meadville Elementary in this year's program. 💙 Along with participating in the assembly, each read the opening chapter of this year's book, "The Lemonade War" by Jacqueline Davies, to a class! 📖 In addition, our Teresa Patrick and Josie Santiago Cruz participated in the program by reading chapters of the book in both English and Spanish! We thank Meadville Elementary School, the Virginia Bankers Association and Read To Them for their partnership in this outstanding effort, as well as these employees for being active participants in our community. 🤝 Member FDIC | Equal Housing Lender
