After six months of meticulous planning with Dr. Anthony Tran, DrPH, MPH, D(ABMM) Deputy Director, Center for Laboratory Sciences (CDPH) and team, on October 23, 2024, their efforts culminated in an extraordinary event, marked by cutting-edge scientific research, strategic networking, and engaging discussions. This inaugural Center for Laboratory Sciences (CLS) Symposium, titled “Pioneering Collaboration Through Science”, brought together over 250 attendees, including passionate leading researchers, dedicated university students, and partners from the California Department of Public Health, OPDE, and HRD. The full-day symposium offered a dynamic platform for innovative learning, allowing participants to delve into groundbreaking public health initiatives, connect with peers, and engage meaningfully with one another. With a mission to inspire, connect, and strengthen collective efforts, the event addressed the complex health challenges of today and the future. Dr. Jill Taylor, the keynote speaker and senior advisor for scientific affairs at the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) and the Advisory Committee to the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, provided an insightful look into the future of public health.
