Advancing Accessibility: Highlights from M-Enabling Summit 2024 Reflecting on the transformative M-Enabling Summit 2024, we celebrated significant advancements and deepened connections within the accessibility community. The event served as a vital platform for industry leaders and advocates to share insights and innovations that can enhance inclusivity for all. Here are some key moments: 1. Parallel Session: AI-based Audio-Description, Image, and Video Accessibility: Led by Joel Snyder, Ph.D., President of AUDIO DESCRIPTION ASSOCIATES, LLC, this session featured industry leaders including Josh Miller, Co-Founder & Co-CEO of 3Play Media; Maria-Victoria Diaz, Ph.D., Founder and CEO of Dicapta; and Heather York, VP of Marketing and Government Affairs at VITAC. They discussed state-of-the-art AI technologies enhancing video accessibility from user perspectives. 2. Parallel Session: New Frontiers for Inclusive Transportation Technologies: Chaired by Zachary Bastian, Senior Manager of Strategic Alliances at Verizon, this session highlighted innovations like digital mapping and AI that can transform transportation accessibility for persons with disabilities. Speakers included Tom Pey PHD MA FCMA FRSA DBS, Founder and CEO of Waymap; Brandon Biggs, CEO and Co-Founder of XR Navigation; Alan Hejl, CPACC, Founder and Lead Consultant at Spark Access; and briana gilmore, Head of Public Policy for Accessibility and Marginalized Communities at Uber. 3. Parallel Session: What’s New in Accessibility at Google: Presented by Eric Hind, CPWA, PMP from Google Workspace, this session provided a high-level overview of the latest accessibility features and initiatives from Google, showcasing their commitment to inclusive technology across Android, Chrome, and Chromebook. 4. A11y Chats Highlight: Sharron Rush, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Knowbility interviewing Thomas Wlodkowski, Vice President of Accessibility at Comcast, about the organizational perspective on hiring accessibility professionals. 5. Networking Hour: Attendees connected, sharing ideas and strategies to further accessibility in our communities.
