Congratulations to the winners and participants of the Startup Challenge, held over the weekend at the Carlsen Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship at California State University-Sacramento. Our founder Douglas Younger III, got the opportunity to judge this event and witness the intriguing pitches the participants gave. The Startup Challenge included two cohorts: The Catalyst Cohort and The Traction Cohort. The Catalyst Cohort consisted of brand-new ideas and The Traction Cohort consisted of existing companies. The Catalyst Cohort Winners 1st Place: Organized Legacy. Organized Legacy simplifies how families gather and keep track of need-to-know information for loved ones when they pass. 2nd Place: Ayllu. Ayllu is a dating app that uses AI to automatically create profiles and to match people with similar interests, both based on users’ social profiles. The Traction Cohort Winners 1st Place: Purpuratus. Purpuratus makes kelp restoration profitable by harnessing the natural value of an urchin. 2nd Place: NutraCompass. NutraCompass is a white label app for gyms designed to create community around the gym-going experience, in order to increase retention.
