Hey hey LinkedIn Peeps: I’m in cool St. Louis presenting tomorrow on Unity in Distinction: How Dedicated Spaces Empower PoC and White Allies to Lead Together. 🤜🏼 🤛🏾 As I shared in a previous post, I’ve really embraced that these dedicated spaces are healing spaces. I’ll get to share with attendees at Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP Global) ‘s #2024AFPLEAD conference, the positive impact this approach has had in empowering PoC and helping allies emerge as stronger allies. ✊🏽 This is a powerful sesh, as those who attended last year’s Nonprofit Storytelling Conference can attest! And those who have actually gone through #AscendingLeadersInColor can also attest!! 👊🏽 I’m looking forward to how conference attendees respond! I hope it’s just like last year’s group!!! 🙏🏽 Stay tuned! ❤️ Talk soon!! #UnityInDistinction #HealingSpaces

This one-of-a-kind experience is less than 48 hours away! You'll get a full two hours to be a part of the conversation. Our founder, Frank Velásquez Jr., won't be a talking head. It's truly going to be a space to share stories, and in the process maybe learn a little more about ourselves and each other. All we ask is that you lean into the discomfort. Frank is adept at keeping things real while being respectful because the work we do around racial and gender equity is not easy. In fact, it's hard as hell. But we need each other. We can't do it alone. So come ready to be a part of the solution and to take the steps in leading collectively! #movingracialequityforward #AscendingLeadersInColor

Hey Folks! Frank Velásquez Jr. , our founder, will be joining powerhouse Angela Barnes, MBA, CFRE in speaking at the 2024 Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP Global) LEAD conference!!! His sesh, “Unity in Distinction: How Dedicated Spaces Empower PoC and White Allies to Lead Together,” is one you don’t want to miss! Imagine bringing your full, authentic self into leadership spaces without fear of judgment or others’ discomfort. The reality is that access to these spaces requires People of Color to leave behind the very things that make them authentic in order to “fit” in. And white allies often don’t understand why. In this session, Frank invites folks to share their experiences and explores how dedicated learning spaces empower leaders and foster deep connections. PoC and white allies will leave the session appreciating each other’s perspective and be better equipped to collectively lead with more authenticity and joy, and in the process transform our communities. Apply for one of these scholarships to experience a leadership conference like no other! #MovingRacialEquityForward

A client recently asked about the difference between 'trauma informed' and 'ethical' storytelling in the not-for-profit / impact sector. I loved the question and recorded a quick-ish video about it. The course Nonprofit Storytelling: Fundraising & Beyond dives deeply into this, presenting nuanced perspectives and concrete, accessible tools for nonprofit and impact leaders, fundraisers, and communicators. You can get it for $29 in August! Hey LI Peeps: I haven't shared this before but I think tonight's as good as any to share. For many who've known me a while, I've gone through some major ups and downs both personally and professionally since 2017. I don't talk much about the personal stuff -- and I certainly won't here 😆 -- but I can say that I'm fortunate and blessed to have expanded my "circle of loving relationships." People like Rika Rodgers (better known as Kambiri), Magdalena Verdugo, Patricia Andrade, and Leslie Perls who were there for me EXACTLY when I needed them most. And people like Kerri Lopez-Howell, Carlos Hernández, DSW, LCSW, CPHQ, Hawwa M., Maria Rodriguez, Danny Knee, Jenny Flynn, Michael Guymon, Arelis Velasquez, Melissa Hernandez, Ph.D., Isabel Georgelos, Ginette Gonzalez, Diana Charbonneau, Joshua Alcorn, Enrique Aldana, Heaven Rendon, Katrina Calderon, Kesha Dawson and Brittany Battle. And more recently, Angela Barnes, MBA, CFRE, Arika Wells, MPA, Diane S., Ren Manning, Kimberly Gutierrez, Emilia Honkasaari, Greg Curtis Wakefield, Frank Vidal, Emily Bridson, MBA, Celeste Granger, Christopher Beck, CAP®, and Tina Toro Evans. (I know I've missed several of you! Please know it wasn't intentional.) ❤️ And that brings me to two people who've recently entered my circle: Diana Farias Heinrich and Maria Bryan. Diana (that's pronounced Dee-ah-na) asked Maria and I to embark on a journey in creating a one-of-a-kind nonprofit summit. One that would be 💯 ethical storytelling, 💯 community-centered fundraising, and 💯 trauma-informed practices! These powerhouse women have truly made an imprint on me. And now the three of us are sharing the joy in seeing The Ethical Nonprofit Summit take off! 🚀 And I for real feel that this summit -- launching on September 19, 2024 from 9a-5p PST -- is gonna speak to more than just nonprofit folks. Like, my sesh is titled The Power of Language: How Aspiring Words Reclaim Narratives and Revolutionize Giving. It's all about honoring and uplifting communities through words and actions. It's gonna speak to everyone! 🎙️ That brings me to this. If you want to find a community of peeps that will enhance your personal and professional life, it's gonna be at this summit. The breakout networking seshes alone are gonna be 🔥! I'm confident you're gonna make some friends for life -- like the ones I listed at the beginning! 🤜🏼 🤛🏾 Make sure you use this coupon code, 4DAHOOD15, by August 31 to save 15% off the General Admission or VIP price. And that VIP price includes a free asset-based language audit by ME! This could be a website page, an end-of-year appeal letter, a donor communication letter, or anything similar! The audit alone is worth $500 and it's free if you secure the VIP package! Then maybe I can be included in your circle of loving relationships! Or you in mine! Or both!!! ⭕️ ❤️ Click below to register! https://lnkd.in/gF663jk3 #ThePowerOfLanguage #CircleOfLovingRelationships

Come one, come all to see our founder, Frank Velásquez Jr. , present this ever important sesh on why learning separately to lead collectively is the key to advancing racial equity. The pain we’ve each endured looks different, therefore the healing much come from a nuanced place. But the goal is to always come back together to tackle the hard issues.

Hello LinkedIn Peeps: This sesh will likely be different than any other you’ve recently attended. (Ain’t that right Dan Hanley?😁) It’ll be a space to reflect and have some real convos with each other. Because even though PoC and White allies share the same spaces in nearly every situation, we experience them much differently. Distinct spaces give each room to heal and grow, so we can then lead together with more authenticity, courage, and joy. We’ll share stories, laughter, and maybe a few hearts-in-our-throats moments. And most importantly, we’ll be there to support one another when these moments arise. I encourage you to sign up, if you haven’t already! My sesh is on Friday, July 19 at 11:00 am!! Reach out to AFP Southern Arizona for more information and how to register! #AscendingLeadersInColor #MovingRacialEquityForward
