Reflecting on the 48in48 Global Build Event – A Rewarding Challenge This past weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to volunteer as a project manager during the 48in48 Global Build Event, and it was a truly rewarding experience! The event focused on building 48 websites for nonprofits in just 48 hours, bringing together a passionate community of professionals to support organizations that make a difference. Despite some unexpected challenges, including working with a team of just two people instead of the expected five, we successfully completed the project. I owe a huge shoutout to my WordPress designer Adwoa Serwa Addai, who went above and beyond to make it happen. Her creativity, dedication, and ability to problem-solve under pressure allowed us to meet the deadline and deliver a website we are proud of. Her commitment made the site come to life with a perfect blend of design and functionality, despite the tight timeframe. A special mention also goes to my event program manager Amber Barker, whose guidance and support kept us on track throughout the event. Her leadership and encouragement played a huge role in keeping the energy high and navigating the inevitable bumps along the way. Working with such a dedicated team to provide a nonprofit with a functional, impactful website was incredibly fulfilling. The event was intense, but in the end, it was well worth it, and I am grateful to have contributed to a cause that helps others. #48in48 #nonprofits #volunteering #impact

I’m thrilled to share my recent experience volunteering with 48in48, a global event where volunteers come together to build 48 websites for nonprofit organizations in just 48 hours! 🌐💥 As the WordPress Developer and taking on some SEO and content tasks, I had the pleasure of working alongside a fantastic team: Jai-Shirelle Marshall (Project Manager), Cherisse Huggins (Project Co-Manager), and Brittany Warren (UI/UX Designer). Together, we collaborated to bring a nonprofit’s vision to life through a fully functional and impactful website. This project was not just about building websites; it was about making a meaningful difference for organizations that work hard to uplift communities. It’s always a rewarding experience to contribute my skills for a cause greater than myself, and I’m grateful to have worked with such a dedicated and talented group. Thank you to 48in48 for this incredible opportunity! Here’s to more collaborations and community impact. 💪🚀 #Volunteering #WebDesign #WordPressDevelopment #DigitalMarketing #SEO #NonProfit #48in48 #Teamwork #MakingADifference #CommunityImpact #WebDevelopment

Over the weekend I had the privilege to volunteer in 48in48, a high-impact organisation that brings together talented professionals, all dedicating their time and skills to support nonprofits by building their websites in just 48 hours.  I was proud to serve 2 amazing nonprofits as a Project Manager for BiftuSpark, an organisation dedicated to empowering underserved communities by providing support and resources for their development and WordPress Developer for 𝗘𝗛𝗖𝗖 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗿𝘆 & 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, which empowers women from underserved and ethnic communities providing holistic support through midwifery care, educational resources and essential services. This experience was both challenging and rewarding, and I've taken some lessons from it, including: • 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲: with just 48 hours to deliver, I learned to embrace rapid decision making while balancing quality and efficiency. • 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆: managing Team 32 highlighted the importance of leveraging each team member's strengths. Together we navigated obstacles, brainstormed solutions and ultimately built something meaningful. • 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽: serving as PM, I was responsible for keeping everyone on track and ensuring that communication flowed smoothly between the nonprofit and our team. It taught me that great leadership is about empowering each member to succeed in their role. • 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘆: understanding that time zone differences can lead to delays in responses and being patient during this process is vital. Empathy for the stakeholders’ challenges fosters a better working relationship. 🙏 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸𝘀: • To my amazing Team 32 (Aliaksandra, Ashley H. and Fabiola Garcia) and Team 14, you were absolutely incredible. Your creativity, drive, and positivity made all the difference! It was an honour working with all of you. • To my EPM Jacinta Marshal, the program director Shayla C. Perry and the entire 48in48 team, thank you for your dedication and for creating a space where we could contribute in such a powerful way. It’s amazing to see what can be accomplished in such a short period when passionate people work together for a great cause. I am truly grateful for the chance to contribute to both nonprofits and their mission through this event. This experience reaffirmed my passion for using my skills to uplift others. In just 48 hours, we created a digital space that will help nonprofits extend their reach and impact even further. Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. Here’s to making a difference one website at a time! See you next year! #48in48 #VolunteerExperience #ProjectManagement #Teamwork #NonprofitSupport #BiftuSpark #EHCCFoundation #GivingBack #Gratitude #MakingAnImpact #DigitalForGood

This weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to volunteer with an amazing group of professionals at 48in48, where we dedicated our time and skills to build 𝟰𝟴 𝘄𝗲𝗯𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 for 𝗡𝗚𝗢𝘀 in just 𝟰𝟴 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀! I had the privilege of working on two impactful websites for 𝗘𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 and 𝗠𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮’𝘀 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱—both organizations focused on uplifting communities in need. Echoes of Empowerment works to improve the lives of women, children, and underserved communities through education and social support, while Mamma’s Hand in Seattle is dedicated to helping homeless families by providing housing, education, and life skills. Here are my three key takeaways from this fast-paced, rewarding experience: 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗞𝗲𝘆:
Throughout my career, I’ve always emphasized the importance of clear communication, and this experience was no different. Working on these websites reinforced for me that great products are built on strong communication. It’s not just about exchanging information but making sure every voice is heard, every idea is shared, and that everyone is aligned. In a fast-paced environment like this, clear communication ensured that we stayed on track despite the time pressure. 𝗔𝗴𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻:
I’m no stranger to working in Agile environments, but building 48 websites in 48 hours really tested my ability to adapt quickly and move efficiently. What stood out to me was that speed isn't everything—it's about making the right decisions at the right time. This experience reaffirmed that no detail is too small, and being Agile means balancing speed with quality. As an engineer and product manager, I’ve learned that agility is about staying sharp and deliberate while still moving fast. 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: Matter
As someone who thrives on delivering high-quality results, I had to embrace that sometimes, you can’t achieve everything on your list. When the clock stops, it’s time to hand over and focus on reviewing the work with fresh eyes. This final review is where growth happens—feedback and reflection are what push us to deliver better products next time. I’ve always valued the review process, but this experience deepened my appreciation for its importance in continuous improvement. A huge thank you to my fellow 𝟰𝟴𝗶𝗻𝟰𝟴 volunteers, including Shayla C. Perry, Jacquelyn Lopez, Aliaksandra Sankova, Candi Correia, Quamane Favor, Jessica Johnson, Kia W, Charleen Firlus, Erika Coronel, and Jacinta. I’m already looking forward to the next challenge at 48in48 2025! #48in48 #NGO #Volunteering #Agile #WebDevelopment #Teamwork #GivingBack #WordPress #Developer #Glo24
