About us
603 Legal Aid offers a single point of entry for people in New Hampshire who need legal assistance with civil (non-criminal) matters. We maintain an online library of resources about individuals’ rights in many types of civil cases, as well as a vibrant volunteer attorney training program and individualized services by staff advocates. The majority of our clients are families and people seeking to protect their housing, or survivors of domestic violence seeking safety from their abuser. We partner closely with NH Legal Assistance to ensure access to justice for all in our state.

“59% didn’t seek our legal help from an attorney who could have been pivotal in getting their issues resolved”…… That’s why one of the most important things all members of our community can do is 📢Talk about us! Tell people in your network about how legal aid might help resolve a situation, from an eviction to an IRS dispute to a divorce.
A majority (56%) of Americans mistakenly think they have a right to an attorney in all civil cases, according to a recent survey conducted by The Harris Poll on behalf of LSC. The survey also found that many who experienced a civil legal matter within the past three years (59%) didn’t seek out legal help from an attorney who could have been pivotal in getting their issues resolved. “The lack of awareness among Americans about the resources available to them regarding civil legal matters is concerning and points to how much work still needs to be done to ensure all Americans have access to the legal system,” said LSC President Ron Flagg. Exciting news! Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon (PA-5) and Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1), co-chairs of the Bipartisan Congressional Access to Legal Aid Caucus, introduced a Congressional Resolution in recognition of LSC’s 50th anniversary. “Legal services attorneys help families put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads. Deploying legal expertise, innovation, and compassion, these essential public servants right wrongs and secure justice for Americans every single day,” Rep. Scanlon said. Rep. Fitzpatrick added, “I remain steadfast in my commitment to championing access to justice and civil legal aid and look forward to continuing working alongside LSC to ensure equal access to the system of justice in our nation.” The resolution reaffirms that LSC’s mission “remains vital to ensuring equal access to justice” and calls for continued prioritization of funding for legal services.
