Working with MMMs the past couple of months continues to reinforce the importance of having high quality inputs. No matter how “smart” the model, if you don’t have reasonably comprehensive well-structured data, the value of the model will be dubious. It’s hard enough determining what has influence versus what is noise. If you want to be confident in the decisions you make based on models, make sure you are confident in the data you put into them.
