According to Aurora Solar's “Solar Industry Snapshot,” trust, or lack thereof, is a roadblock to residential solar adoption. In 2023, 22% of homeowners said they could not find a trustworthy solar company. In 2024, the numbers doubled: 44% of respondents said it is hard to determine which solar companies are trustworthy. Washington has recently passed the Washington Solar Consumer Protection Act to address these concerns. The Solar Consumer Protection Act introduces measures to curb predatory tactics, standardize contractual language, and reinforce installer licensing regulations, while also empowering the Attorney General’s office to penalize non-compliant solar companies. A&R Solar installs solar energy systems for homes and businesses across Washington and Oregon. We have offices and staff in Puget Sound, Portland, Bend, and the Eastern Washington area. We have been designing solar energy systems for Northwest homes since 2007. Our system designers live in Washington and Oregon and have deep experience creating systems that maximize solar potential for each unique project. Here are two other things that set us apart: We don’t use call centers. We don’t subcontract our electrical work. When you talk to an A&R Solar representative, that person is an employee, perhaps even an employee owner. Ask them. Residential taxpayers can apply a credit to their federal income tax return at the end of the year in which their system went into service based on its total price. The solar tax credit is not refundable, but can still be carried forward to future years if you can’t use the full amount in one year. After installing solar panels, claim the tax credit on the IRS filing corresponding to the year you installed your system. Solar and battery storage are having an absolute field day this year in the US. According to fresh numbers from the Energy Information Administration, the two sources accounted for a staggering 80% of all new electricity capacity added in the first half of 2024. Solar alone made up 60% of the 20.2 gigawatts of fresh capacity that went online from January through June. At the same time, battery installations also saw a major surge, clocking in at 4.2 GW for over 20% of total additions.
