Confession time: I’m a natural overthinker (yes, #VirgoLife) — but being an entrepreneur has taught me that overthinking can’t sit in the driver’s seat. Especially when it comes to making fast, sure decisions in the moment, I’ve had to learn to trust my gut, follow my instincts, and make the call. Recently, I found myself making a lot of decisions — some tiny, some career-defining. Here’s what I’ve realized: 1️⃣ Spotting Red Flags: Right now, we’re hiring for our spring internship program, and I’ve become laser-focused on identifying potential fit (or not) right away. That little detail you catch in the corner of your eye? It often tells you more than an entire resume. Seeing those small indicators can predict future outcomes, and knowing what to look for has helped me get decisive fast. 2️⃣ Making the Hard Calls: Letting go of team members? This was something I never thought I’d handle quickly. I care about people and their outcomes — but I’ve learned that being too attached to emotions can cloud judgment. I’ve challenged myself to think logically and to trust the truth in the decision, even when it’s tough. And it’s been transformative. Now, I’m able to say what needs to be said and keep moving forward. 3️⃣ Setting Boundaries: I’ve even had people come back and ask to reverse the decision to let them go. Of course, it’s not easy. But I’ve learned to stand firm in my choices. I’ve realized that being a fast decision-maker isn’t about not caring; it’s about setting boundaries, staying focused on what’s best for the business, and supporting my team in the best way possible. _____________________________________ Hi, I’m Arnaecia, founder and CEO of A Jam and Methix HQ, providing ethical homes for music artists to advance their careers by redefining the music-technology space If you made it this far, I’d love to connect with you!
