Tony Conway formed Legendary Events in 1997, after a decade of experience in the luxury hotel industry. The company is a reflection of Tony’s seasoned expertise and enthusiasm for the special event and hospitality industry, and has since grown into an award-winning full-service event enterprise, handling more than 600 outstanding events a year. Legendary’s expertise in event planning, catering, floral decor and design, has earned the team a stellar reputation, and ensured the company is a trusted choice for internationally renowned names such as Tyler Perry, Sir Elton John and Oprah Winfrey, as well as for high profile complex events like those honoring President Barack Obama, President George W Bush and President Bill Clinton. In 2013 Tony opened the first of two special event venues owned and operated by Legendary Events in the Buckhead area of Atlanta. The Estate is a stunning southern mansion, with original features dating back to 1797. By contrast, Flourish, which opened in 2015, is a stylish and glamorous modern gem which features an insta-worthy sconce wall, and over 50 incredible chandeliers. The Corporate Volunteer Council of Atlanta is hosting it’s Spring Quarterly meeting on Wednesday, April 17. Our topic is “Failing Forward: Turning Failure Into Growth.” Corporate Social Impact work is continuously evolving, and taking risks is part of the “job.” With each big risk, we can unfortunately find ourselves on the other end of success. Each setback ironically brings us closer to our goals whether we recognize it or not as we often overlook the transformative power of how failure can enrich us. From a young age, we're conditioned to fear failure. We witnessed disappointment when we brought home a poor grade, endured ridicule from a teammate when we missed the game-winning jump shot, or felt the pressure when our first boss pointed out our mistakes. As we grow professionally, the stakes get larger and our risks can impact the bottom line. It's in moments of loss and failure—those instances where we stumble—we gain invaluable lessons, far beyond what success may offer. The leaders we'll hear from have traversed varied paths across for-profit, nonprofit, and social good sectors, each with a unique narrative to share about shooting for the stars, and well…missing. Together, we'll explore their endeavors to bring failure out of the shadows that inevitably led to their successes, each embracing the concept of failing forward.
