    Joy is a challenging thing sometimes. Real life dampers the impact of joy, it seems. Work calls, emails, instant messages, deadlines... our days are so full of activity that it's hard to make space for joy.... it becomes yet another task on our "to-do" list. ✅ order groceries ✅ respond to emails ✅ feel joy But - not for children. Even the smallest things bring them joy. Riding a bike, gathering with friends, folding laundry and turning it into a race. Joy is embedded in their days. When does it disappear? Why does it disappear? Joy cannot be an afterthought. It cannot be a task. It must be a mindset. Joy is a choice. A choice to celebrate the small wins, to smile because the sun is finally shining after a week of clouds, to be grateful that Target had your favorite pumpkin creamer in stock. Joy can and should be the heartbeat of our days... especially the busy ones. Be like Bodi - choose joy with every gift you've been given... even if it isn't a gift you asked for.

    I’m asked ALL the time what it’s like leading a high-growth start-up as a mom. This…this is what it’s like. Pure bliss. One kid is doing the thing he loves at baseball practice, the other kid is here, doing the thing he loves shredding at the skate park…and I’m doing the thing I love - challenging outdated norms and creating a world of work where Mondays don’t suck. I’m not saying it’s easy, I’m just saying there’s literally NOTHING I’d rather be doing. We encourage our kids to pursue their passions, push their limits, and believe they can do anything. So why don’t we do the same for ourselves? Why do we settle for a workplace that drains us, when we could be creating something that fires us up instead? It’s time to break the mold.     Like the rest of social media and podcasts - you're getting a curated version of my life - the bits and pieces that are put together in a perfect package for you to view. But today, I'm breaking that rule. Instead of talking about all the beautiful things that come with living a life unleashed and embracing authenticity - I'm talking about the other side of it... the struggles, the judgment, the darkness. It's the most vulnerable I've been since starting this journey... and it's freaking scary. And, while I love all of your beautiful posts sharing the wins, the excitement and the joy you get from your career experiences. I believe it's time we also create space for honest, open conversations about the hard stuff... the stuff that tears us down and holds us back. If we're not talking about it, we're not being real... we're not being authentic. And, as someone who believes life isn't meant to be lived alone... I think we need to be more brave and create a community here (and in our organizations) that embrace and share ALL aspects of work-life. Because, when we create space for the struggles, authenticity can truly thrive.
