We are thrilled to share our new publication in Analytical Chemistry! 🎉 We developed a 96-well LED array for the photoelectrochemical detection of nucleic acids. In this proof-of-concept study, we successfully detected three miRNAs associated with prostate cancer which brings us one step closer to faster, more efficient diagnostics. Check out the full study for all the details! 👇 https://lnkd.in/ePf7iPv5

I’m thrilled to announce the publication of the final article from the #INFORM project (grant number: 842219), funded by the European Commission through a #MSCA Individual Fellowship. Here, we developed a 96-well #photoelectrochemical assay for the detection of nucleic acids. This #publication marks the culmination of an incredibly rewarding 2-year journey. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Saranya Thiruvottriyur Shanmugam, Karolien De Wael, and my amazing colleagues from A-PECS and the University of Antwerp. A special thanks goes to Stanislav Trashin, for his invaluable lessons on photoelectrochemistry, and to Olivier Voet for his continuous support over the years. When you are working hard, it is important not to forget to have fun once in a while! In the spirit of our newly founded research group, we organised a teambuilding where we discovered the wonders of VR gaming. Whether it was escaping a deserted island or saving the world from a zombie apocalypse, our heroes did it all. Now we're going back to the real world to save it with cutting-edge research!

🎉 Excited to share our recent publication “Nickel hydroxide nanosphere decorated reduced-TiO2 nanotubes as supercapacitor electrodes” in Electrochimica Acta (Elsevier)! In this study we fabricated and characterized a novel hybrid #supercapacitor electrode by #electrodepositing #pseudocapacitive nickel hydroxide #nanospheres on reduced titanium dioxide #nanotubes. A high areal specific capacitance together with promising rate capability and cyclic stability was achieved aiming toward the miniaturization of electronic devices. Thanks to all the collaborators for their valuable support! Read the full article here: 👉 https://lnkd.in/eAmAp9Gw

From July 23rd till July 26th, I participated in the 19th International Conference on Electroanalysis (ESEAC 2024) in Ulm, where I presented my research findings in the form of a poster, titled "A Novel Photoelectrochemical Bio-Platform for NPY Gene Methylation Detection in Colorectal Cancer" 🏆🏆🏆 I am honored and excited to share that I have been awarded the Best Poster Prize!🏆🏆🏆 I would like to thank the co-authors for their contribution and continuous help throughout my research: Alejandro Valverde De la Fuente, Laura Mariën, Prof. Ken Op de Beeck, Prof. Guy Van Camp and my supervisor Prof. Karolien De Wael. I would also like to thank the organizers of this great conference Prof. Fred Lisdat and Prof. Christine Kranz for giving me this amazing opportunity to present my work. I would as well want to express my gratitude to the sponsor of the poster prize, Elsevier. During the conference I have obtained valuable insights on the novel methods of electroanalysis (e.g. SECM) as well as the use of laser induced graphene and microfluidics for the electroanalytical applications. Looking forward to new collaborations, made as the result of attendting the ESEAC 2024, and applying in my future research the knowledge obtained.
