🫶 October 1 marked the official kick-off for our annual United Way giving campaign, which runs through the month of October. This year’s theme is On the Road for Change. 💲Each year, employees contribute to the United Way campaign through payroll contributions, one-time donations, or by joining many of the available fundraising activities being held across ACE. 💖 We have the power to make a difference. We pledge to donate, advocate, and volunteer to help drive real change in our communities!

Vice President for Automotive Services, Nannalee Haywood, Automotive Trainer Scott Swann, and a tow truck operator for Bitetto Towing, Andrew Hernandez, were recognized at the Orange County Business Council's (OCBC) annual First Responder Awards for their efforts showcasing our commitment to protecting the lives of roadside workers and members stranded at the roadside. The award recognized the latest improvements that we have made to improve roadside worker safety, including: 🛻 Development and implementation of a new required safety class for tow truck operators. 🛣️ Recognition of roadside service contractors that promote AAA's "Slow Down Move Over" safety campaign and messages at the annual ERS Awards Recognition luncheon. 🖥️ Incorporation of the latest safety technology to protect roadside workers and stranded members.

🎙 Jim Garrity, Director of Public Affairs for AAA East Central, reported a successful (and fun) group volunteer event that helped prepare teachers and students for the new school year. 🖊️📖 “AAA East Central employees recently volunteered at the Best of the Batch Foundation, preparing supplies for students and teachers in Southwestern Pennsylvania,” Jim wrote. 🎒 “The group stuffed backpacks with school supplies for kids headed back to school. They also produced supplies packages for teachers to help them with the basic needs of a classroom. Our EC employees made dozens of packages for students and teachers in Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas.”

❤️🩹 This month, on October 10, we will be celebrating World Mental Health Day to spark awareness, encourage open conversations, and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health awareness. 🌐 Through the promotion mental wellness, we can foster a positive, encouraging, and safe work environment where individuals can feel free to speak openly about their well-being, as well as highlight the need for accessible mental health services for those in need. 🧠 As we recognize World Mental Health Day, we reaffirm our commitment to developing a supportive culture that prioritizes individuals’ wellness, as well as uphold our core values of social responsibility.

🍁Autumn walks are unbe-leaf-ably refreshing and our fall wellness challenge, Walktober®, is in full force. 🚶Beginning on September 30, our employees are encouraged to get out their walking shoes, trekking poles, and favorite rambling clothes and get walking. 🏆 It’s good for the body, mind, and soul, with the bonus of a prize for employees who complete the challenge!
