  • AACI's CEO and President, Sarita Kohli, was recently quoted in India Current's "Medi-Cal’s Transformation Is Well And Truly Underway" article by Tanay Gokhale. 🖊️ The article discusses significant changes in California's Medi-Cal program, which provides healthcare to low-income residents. These changes aim to include as many California residents as possible under Medi-Cal coverage and the expansion of services benefits not only residents, but nonprofits like AACI. As Sarita says in the article, "Since our doors are open to everybody, and we don’t turn anyone away because of their inability to pay, the fact that now all those people are eligible for insurance through Medi-Cal has made a huge difference to us. We’re now able to get paid for the services we provide, and that allows us to serve many more people.” 📣 To read more about how Medi-Cal eligibility is extending coverage to the undocumented and how it affects the community, please visit: https://lnkd.in/ghthj-yp #aaci #medical #news #article #indiacurrents

  • AACI celebrates Indigenous Peoples’ Day! ❤️📣 This special day is dedicated to acknowledging the strength and valuable cultural heritage of Indigenous people, who have endured centuries of oppression, assimilation, and genocide. We recognize that the AACI community has benefited and continues to benefit from the occupation and use of this land since our founding in 1973; we pause to acknowledge that our clinics sit on the stolen lands of the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe and the Tamien Nation, and we celebrate and uplift its ancestral stewards. As a simple step towards further education and raising awareness, we encourage you to take a moment today to learn about the original inhabitants of the land you currently reside on. #aaci #indigenouspeoplesday

  • Since its inception in 2000, AACI Center for Survivors of Torture (CST) program has provided specialized services – including individual and group psychotherapy, psychiatry, psychological and medical evaluations for political asylum cases, medical, social, and legal services to more than 2,100 survivors of torture and their family members, as well as 2,800 newly arrived refugees from 74 countries. CST’s mission is to open a door to hope and healing by providing rehabilitative services to survivors of politically motivated torture and refugees. ❤️ As the Associate Director of AACI CST Program, Armina H. oversees daily operations and strategic direction, ensuring trauma-informed care for individuals who have experienced torture. Her role includes supervising a multidisciplinary team, managing program budgets and grants, and building partnerships with local, state, federal, and international organizations. Armina feels proud to be part of a team of people who share a deep commitment to compassion, justice, and healing. When asked about her outlook on the program, she says, "Together we honor CST's legacy and carry forward AACI's mission of improving the lives of individuals and families by providing high-quality, affordable health and human services to all. Every day, we reaffirm our dedication to serving the most vulnerable, advocating for human dignity, and offering the support necessary for people to rebuild their lives. As we look toward the future, I’m filled with both pride and optimism. Our shared mission continues to guide us, and I’m confident that we’ll make an even greater impact in the years to come." 🤩🌟 To learn more about AACI Center for Survivors of Torture (CST) Program, please visit https://lnkd.in/gZ6bxGbf. #aaci #cst #ourteam #ouraaciteam #aacicst #bh #behavioralhealth #50thaaciversary #50thanniversary
