  • Today, we celebrate Ombuds! 🎉 The American Bar Association recognizes the second Thursday of October as Ombuds Day to highlight the ombuds profession. The goals of Ombuds Day are to improve public awareness of ombuds, to connect ombuds in their respective communities, and to encourage greater use of ombuds programs and services. Join us today at 1 ET to learn more about ombuds. Our program - Exploring the AI Landscape: Challenges and Opportunities for Ombuds - will explore how artificial intelligence impacts the profession.   • Each day of the Advanced Mediation & Advocacy Skills Institute will feature a prominent keynote speaker who will give expert insights into the world of mediation. She brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles as a Hotel & Restaurant Manager, Arizona Assistant Attorney General, Assistant Ombudsman for the State of Arizona, and Organizational Ombudsman for Apollo Education Group. Liz currently serves as Chair-Elect of the American Bar Association Section of Dispute Resolution and Chair of the International Ombuds Association's CO-OP® Communications Committee. She also co-founded Ombuzz, a blog on workplace conflict resolution, and OmbudsLinked, a LinkedIn group for ombuds professionals.     Please join us in congratulating Lela Porter Love, our 2024 Lawyer as Problem Solver Award recipient! The American Bar Association Lawyer as Problem Solver Award honors individual members of the legal profession who have exhibited extraordinary skills in promoting the concept of the lawyer as problem-solver. This year, the Section is thrilled to honor Lela Love. As the founding director of the Kukin Program for Conflict Resolution at Cardozo School of Law, Lela is a true pioneer in the field. As a former Section Chair, Lela led the Section to curate the first International Mediation Leadership Summit in The Hague. Her lifelong commitment and dedication to dispute resolution is inspiring to so many of us. Congrats, Lela!
