Proofpoint’s delayed detections left this multinational healthcare services provider vulnerable, with some threats lingering in inboxes for up to 42 hours. Worse, a seven-week head-to-head comparison revealed the SEG failed to detect nearly 900 malicious emails entirely. And during a second evaluation period, Abnormal uncovered 159 high-risk vendor accounts that could have been exploited. Since replacing Proofpoint with Abnormal, the organization has reduced inbox clutter, reclaimed more than 850 employee hours, and completely transformed its email security. Discover how Abnormal’s API-based, AI-native solution provided the security overhaul they needed: https://bit.ly/40m1Scc

The email appears to be official and incorporates a number of tactics that enable it to bypass basic security filters. The email notes that the target’s social security number is being used fraudulently and encourages them to call a provided contact number — one that connects them directly to the threat actor to initiate the next stage of the attack.
