We’re proud to share our Co-Founder, Dr. David Carreon, recently co-authored a pivotal study published in Nature Neuroscience, unveiling a new frontier in treating PTSD in veterans. This study, involving data from 193 Vietnam veterans with traumatic brain injuries, pinpoints damage to specific brain areas connected to the amygdala—the brain’s “fear center”—as a natural defense against PTSD. By mapping these lesions to a precise brain circuit, the research opens new doors for targeted treatments using non-invasive brain stimulation like Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). 🧠 "For the first time, we’re not just guessing," says Dr. Carreon. "We’re on the brink of a new era in psychiatry where treatments are based on a clear understanding of brain science." Dr. Shan Siddiqi, lead author and Acacia Clinics affiliate, shares the excitement: "PTSD is a real brain disease, and now we can localize it to specific circuits." 📽️ Discover more about this research and its impact on the future of PTSD treatment—watch the video here: https://lnkd.in/gm6PPyyP #ptsd #ptsdtreatment #veterans #interventionalbrainmedicine

We had so much fun hosting Flourish Open House last weekend! 🎉 Our clinic was filled with our local community who showed up to learn and receive resources about mental health. Dr. David Carreon and Dr. Angela Krumm from Feeling Good Institute gave a powerful talk for #SuicidePreventionMonth and shared ways to help loved ones. 🩵 Guests were served with delicious tacos and drinks. 🌮 We had face painting, balloons, and activities for the little ones too! Our amazing staff were stationed throughout the clinic checking people in, giving TMS demonstrations, and answering questions. David Carreon, MD, Noah DeGaetano, MD and Danielle DeSouza MSc, PhD shared about our clinic, how TMS works, and exciting updates from our research center. 📈 Shoutout to our partners for the event who were able to provide valuable information and resources: NAMI Santa Clara County , MagVenture, Feeling Good Institute , El Camino Health ECT Program, SPRAVATO® (esketamine) for HCPs, and Sanmai Technologies. Thank you so much to everyone who came out to learn and support! Stay tuned for our next one! ✨ Watch the video: https://lnkd.in/gmaEay_f #suicideprevention #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthtreatment #depressiontreatment #tmstherapy
