https://lnkd.in/ghREfCHT Access Sciences shares this insightful article by Dan Lohrmann that highlights those who take advantage of natural disasters, and especially hurricanes, in times of crisis. It reveals how effective data governance is a key factor for government disaster assistance agencies, and highlights how transparency and accountability in managing data are crucial for mitigating misinformation and online threats. When citizens trust that the information provided by their government is accurate and consistent, they are less likely to fall victim to misleading sources. Access Sciences contributes to this by fostering a strategic data management approach that converts raw data into actionable insights—helping agencies focus on providing the right assistance where it is needed most, and enhancing their credibility and effectiveness in times of crisis.

🌍 Excited to share some key insights from the Environmental Council of the States (ECOS) Fall Meeting 2024 in Newport, RI! Themed "Environmental Sea Change," the event reinforced the importance of innovation and collaboration in addressing environmental challenges. Here are some key takeaways: 🔍 The transformative potential of GIS in climate action was a major highlight. Combined with AI and drone imagery, GIS can modernize infrastructure and enhance climate resilience. 🌿 Tackling PFAS contamination remains a top priority. Unified efforts and a risk-based approach are essential to mitigate these persistent "forever chemicals." 🤝 Cross-sector collaboration is crucial. Aligning strategies among state, federal, and private entities can overcome barriers and drive sustainable solutions. Also, my colleague Stormi and I visited the historic Redwood Library. Chartered in 1747, it's the nation's oldest public Neoclassical building and the oldest operating lending library in its original structure. This visit was a full-circle moment, connecting back to our founder Janice Anderson's roots in library and information sciences. Access Sciences remains dedicated to leveraging these insights to drive meaningful change in environmental protection and information management. #ECOS2024 #EnvironmentalProtection #Innovation #Collaboration #AccessSciences #RedwoodLibrary #Sustainability
