accesSOS, a DRK Foundation portfolio organization, is providing access to life-saving emergency services for the 65 million people who can not communicate easily by voice call. Their inclusive icon-based app has been utilized by more than 24,000 individuals, providing them with a crucial lifeline for emergency communications. Among them, over 100 people have used the app to access lifesaving services during an emergency situation. “As a nonprofit, we believe in the power of technology to scale our work. But we really believe in fixing the problem. The vision for the organization is to make sustainable systemic change that shows what an accessible emergency system looks like. We designed it, and what we really want to do is to scale it,” says Gabriella M. Wong, founder and CEO of accesSOS, about actualizing a nationwide expansion.
