Understand Client Needs Clients are looking for more than just a service; they’re searching for solutions. By getting to know their challenges inside and out, you can become that go-to partner who truly understands what they need. 3. Retention Over Acquisition Landing new clients is exciting, but keeping them is where the real value lies. It’s the consistent communication and reliable service that turn one-time clients into loyal partners. 4. Focus on What Moves the Needle I know it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by all the daily tasks. My advice? Try to prioritize what truly matters—connecting with clients, solving their problems, and delivering real value. 5. Your Network Is Your Worth Trust is everything in this industry. It’s not just about knowing people, but being known as someone reliable. Building a network of strong, reliable connections has been one of the most valuable assets for me. 6. Keep Learning and Adapting The logistics world is like a moving target—what worked yesterday might not work tomorrow. Instead of just keeping up, embrace change as a constant. This is another example of teamwork making the dream work in our business. This is a shipment of extremely urgent freight that our client needs in their warehouse to begin production right away. What is the logistical challenge? These were shipped from overseas in a container to Long Beach. The short transit time was the most important for the client on this job. We took in the container, drayed it from Long Beach to our partner warehouse, where it was stripped, and reloaded expertly onto a flatbed. This entire process was done the same day the container arrived at the port. The flatbed was also a team flatbed and we managed to get this from dock in Long Beach to dock in MA in a matter of 3 business days. This 40' flat rack container, loaded with oversized rotors, recently completed its journey from our client in Missouri to our transloading facility in New Jersey. It was a time-sensitive project, but our dedicated team rose to the challenge, ensuring on-time delivery. The rotors, packed in large, oversized crates, presented a unique challenge. They had to be carefully unloaded from the truck, reloaded onto flat racks using a crane, and then drayed to the port of New Jersey – all within a tight two-day window. We also navigated a strict NCB inspection process. Initially, we were told we needed six 40' flat racks. However, through open communication and collaboration with the inspector, we successfully demonstrated a secure stacked packing method, saving our client thousands of dollars in unnecessary freight charges. This is a shipment of break bulk goods from Japan containing a 65,000 lb rotor shaft. It had to be craned off the vessel in Long Beach, rigged onto our carrier’s truck, and then transported across 13 states to its final destination. Why are we highlighting this shipment in particular? We had very short notice since the shipment arrived after the vessel had already docked. Coordinating with the terminal's crane schedule was difficult, and we also needed to secure permits for every state the carrier traversed.
