When it comes to AI training, artificially generated data is often the go-to. Understandably. It is cheap, safe, compliant, abundant, and doesn’t require consent. But the real question is: How useful is it? ❓ Does it cover edge scenarios? ❓Does it accurately represent your true customer data? ❓Does it reflect complex, real-world scenarios effectively? These are all important questions to ask before jumping in with artificially generated data. Consider this scenario - you want to train an AI chatbot to identify a customer segment that has the highest number of complaints. If your model is trained on synthetic or fake data, it might miss the nuances and realism crucial to your business. Now in some cases, synthetic data can be quite effective. But for enterprises where the accuracy of your AI models depends on high-quality data, relying solely on cheap synthetic data can leave you with a model that isn’t very accurate.
