Acentech reposted this
Big thank you to Boston Symphony Orchestra for a wonderful evening of music and more on Thursday night. Acentech is proud to support the symphony as a BSO Business Partner again this year, and the symphony had a lovely event for Partners - dinner & drinks, a trolley ride through town, and incredible music (Ray Chen is a phenom!). We've been partnering with the symphony one way or another for decades - for a fun read on some of our work to maintain the excellent #acoustics of this hallowed hall, check out this article on our history of collaboration: https://lnkd.in/esg-xXgJ

The latest audio technology development by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (a non-profit group of over 35,000 member companies) is Auracast. Unlike a traditional Bluetooth audio pairing, which is a one-to-one link, Auracast has the ability to transmit to an indefinite number of Auracast-enabled receivers, similar to a radio station broadcast. Stadiums, airports, and conference centers are just some of the venues of the future that will provide information on linking to Auracast audio, which will work via headphones, hearing aids, laptops and other smart devices. We're excited to share Principal for Acoustics and Innovation Lead Andy Carballeira's INCE-USA member spotlight! His interests seem never-ending: from pickleball noise control, research in accessible acoustics in classrooms and low-frequency noise mitigation, to creating new listening simulations for our Lab @ Acentech micro-site (lab.acentech.com). Andy's excitement and enthusiasm for all things sound-related is infectious, as is his dedication to mentoring those just entering the field. Join us in giving Andy a loud round of applause! 👏 👏 https://lnkd.in/eVGz_VHK

One of our Philly office colleagues Andrew Kinzie, INCE Bd. Cert. attended the beam signing celebration yesterday for the new Philadelphia Ballet Center for Dance, expected to be open in February 2026! The Philadelphia Ballet is getting a new home, with an addition to their existing facility on North Broad Street. Acentech has worked closely with Varenhorst Architects to provide Acoustics and Audiovisual design services. Quiet and controlled rehearsal/performance studios will ensure top of the line facilities for the Ballet’s dancers. The new Center will be a welcome addition to the arts in Philadelphia. #acoustics #audiovisualsystemdesign #philadelphiaballet #performingarts

Great news! Harvard University's District Energy Facility (DEF) won the BSA's Harleston Parker People's Choice Award! Acentech collaborated with Leers Weinzapfel Associates and RMF Engineering, Inc. on noise and vibration mitigation, community noise compliance, and AV system design. We are thrilled for the whole project team!
The people have spoken! Conrad Hertz, Gretchen Battle, PE, Christian Ortolani and I were thrilled to represent RMF Engineering, Inc. at the Boston Society for Architecture Awards Gala last night where the Harvard University District Energy Facility (DEF) won the Harleston Parker People's Choice Award. The DEF is a dramatic addition to the Boston skyline and provides the utilities that power buildings on the Allston campus. We had a great time celebrating along with the team members from Leers Weinzapfel Associates, Thornton Tomasetti, and BOND Brothers, Inc. Special shout out to our colleagues Bill Mahoney, Jared Markle, PE, John Williamson, Stephen Pollard P.E., and Elizabeth Nolder who spent years bringing this project to life.

This week, we are celebrating Women in Construction Week and International Women's Day! We salute all of our female AEC colleagues. Acentech is proud to support women in the AEC industry by doing our part as best as possible with gender equity at the forefront of our minds. Our most recent effort in doing so is signing the 100% Talent Compact with the Boston Women's Workforce Council, a first-in-the-nation approach to reaching gender and racial pay equity. #womeninconstruction2025 #internationalwomensday #genderequity #BWWC

"Commissioning" is an essential part of the audiovisual system design of a building project to ensure that the delivered experience is consistent with the Client's original goals. In this new article, Acentech's Communications Manager, Sandy Kane, interviewed two of our audiovisual system designers, Brian Masiello and Liz Lamour Croteau, to shed light on this process and its importance, particularly as it applies to sound system commissioning. A link to the article can be found in the comments below!

Several grants are already awarded, and research is underway! Esmaeil Memarzadeh, Ph.D. is leading a team to test structural health monitoring, building on our remote noise and vibration monitoring technology. Jay Bliefnick Ph.D. is investigating a novel method for reducing low-frequency noise in HVAC duct systems. And Ioana Pieleanu and Andy Carballeira continue their research into the acoustical properties of various materials. Read the full announcement here, and contact us if you have thoughts on collaborative research! https://lnkd.in/e6SqxQvX
