Achieve is proud to take part in supporting the development of Chimeric's novel cadherin 17-directed CAR-T for solid tumors with our powerful platform for proactive apheresis. That we can share this news on World Cancer Research Day feels especially fitting. We look forward to this opportunity to demonstrate how Achieve's free-to-patient PRO-Aph platform can transform patient access and accelerate development timelines, especially in settings where "brain-to-vein" delays can lead to slowed study enrollment and patients ultimately untreated with potentially curative cell therapies. Just returned from my first ASCO! With all the people I met and things I learned at the meeting, one of the highlights of my trip to Chicago was actually offsite! I finally met IRL Amittha Wickrema, the director of University of Chicago's Cell Therapy Manufacturing Facility after years of virtual meetings. Along with Michael R. Bishop, M.D., Amittha has been a friend and champion of Achieve Clinics' new approach to cell therapy manufacturing. Thank you both for your ongoing help and support!

After an incredible ISCT in Vancouver, fortunate to have made a pitstop in Seattle. Beyond visiting various friends, family, and colleagues, had the very special delight to sit down with none other than Brady Lucas, M.Ed. CHES®, the author of Smiley's Smile (Amazon link: https://a.co/d/iloEfqC) and survivor/thriver through 2 separate bouts of childhood cancer. On this day after National Cancer Survivors Day, what a treat to be inspired by the various ways Brady is advocating for patients and working to help make sure patients and families can be educated as effectively as possible about the cancer patient's journey and be empowered to access their best possible outcomes. It was already amazing to see Emily and Tom Whitehead personally inspire the ISCT community last week, but my heart is overflowing: there are indeed so many important stories to pay attention to and tell. Can a cancer patient's T-cells be engineered into CAR-Ts capable of overcoming the immunosuppressive environment common in solid tumors such as pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC)? We are thrilled to take part in making progress on this question. The 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting poster titled, "Antagonizing vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) receptors with Muc16CD-directed armored CAR T cells for pancreatic cancer." highlights the potential of a novel CAR design that modulates the emerging VIP checkpoint pathway to metabolically reprogram CAR-Ts towards a memory-rich cell product - even when engineered into actual PDAC patient immune cells. Congratulations to first author Heather Lin from the Sarwish Rafiq, PhD lab and colleagues from Emory University, along with co-authors Brad Heller and Paul Chun from Achieve. Applications are still being accepted for The Emily Whitehead Foundation $50,000 “Fight for Cures” grant to support an early-stage investigator working in the U.S. who is dedicated to advancing novel cell and gene therapies.
