Technology is an insufficient “HIN” – one of a group of tools and elements that are *helpful*, *important*, and even *necessary* but that, even at their best, are insufficient for ensuring our success as #AEC leaders and organizations. (I also plan to post more about other “HIN”s, which include employee engagement, PM training, marketing and branding, and strategic planning amongst several others). That said, helping firms to develop, integrate, and leverage strategic AI and advanced technology plans has been squarely on the radar over the past 18 months. One of the most helpful approaches has been one with 2 steps and a professional first mindset: First – internally focusing on “better, faster, cheaper” Second – externally focusing on “net new value” … and always approaching technology as a *tool* (and not the “prize”) for professionals to use and leverage, and keeping top of mind that in the world of #engineering, #architecture, and #construction: * What’s easy and quick is rarely the best or in compliance with the standard of care * FOMO (the fear of missing out) doesn’t inspire * MVPs (minimum viable products) are not full-on solutions, and * Opportunists, well-meaning or otherwise who understand much less about what we do, may make promises too good to be true Here is a link to an article published in the Business Practices section of STRUCTURE magazine that explains what I call “Winning with the New All 3”: https://lnkd.in/eZnUP4Cf A more expansive explanation of this (and linkage to other “HIN”s) can also be found in my latest book, Next-Level Leadership. #leadership #management #growth #strategy #impact #success #ActionsProve

It’s early August and a self-imposed (and largely held) 3-month social media posting “sabbatical” is over… and feeling re-focused and refreshed; so, this may now become an annual thing! For several reasons, I choose to develop all my own content, and after a busy first part of the year successfully completing (and beta testing) the first ever *Next-Level Leadership Assessment* and finishing our 4th Annual *Present and Future of Work in Engineering and Architecture* research report the break was needed and initiated to allow focus on (and being very present for): *A special wedding *Several national and regional (and one international!) #AEC keynotes *Deep work on several client projects *Some private travel… and *One final high-spirited sprint to complete my second book, which now sports a new title and is ready to launch (more on that soon).
