We are incredibly proud to recognize one of our team members, Shane McCoy, for his extraordinary bravery and selflessness. On June 23, 2024, Shane and a few other members of the community saved a woman from a burning vehicle, an act of heroism that earned him a proclamation from the town of Huntington. As a Clinical Scientist and Volunteer Firefighter/EMT with the East Northport Fire Department for the past three years, Shane was driving by when he witnessed the accident. Despite the escalating danger, he pulled over and joined the rescue efforts without hesitation. Shane, along with Michael Susinno, Michael Pitre, and John McPartland, safely removed the driver from her burning vehicle, transporting her to safety before the car was completely engulfed in flames. Their quick thinking and decisive actions ensured her safe extraction and subsequent transport to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment. Shane's dedication to serving others through his work and volunteer efforts exemplifies the values of courage, compassion, and community spirit. His herculean actions on that day inspired us all.
