What do cats, music, theatre and scenic design have in common? No, they aren't elements of a new Andrew Lloyd Weber revival - they're parts of the multi-faceted life of our new Florida Office Manager, Raylen Farries! A natural self-starter, Raylen attained her Associate of Arts degree while still in high school! In 2023, she graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and a minor in creative writing. While at UCF she focused on scenic design and front-of-house operations, advancing to the roles of Scenic Designer and House Manager. In her new role at ADKS, Raylen will logistically and clerically manage the office and support communications between our Orlando production facility and our upstate New York headquarters, including coordinating HR and IT needs, overseeing guest hospitality and tours and procuring required goods and services. When asked what most excited her about the job, Raylen said, "I'm excited to be back in the scenic world and look forward to growing as a scenic artist while here!" Outside of the "scenic world", Raylen enjoys painting, listening to music, attending live performing arts events, and keeping up with her 2-year-old cat, Thomas O'Malley. Join us in welcoming Raylen Farries, and she looks forward to welcoming you to our Orlando shop! #wemakeascene #scenicdesign #fabrication

When do attractions become more than sources of entertainment? When they create community and bring us closer to the people that we love. In our latest People Profile, Business Development Representative Kevin Kalbfeld speaks to the connective power of themed spaces. He also shares some of his artistic talents and reveals his true character (or at least, the character he would love to become). --- Don't miss Kevin, along with Monai Rooney, Lacy K Campbell, and Judith Zissman as they present "The Site-Specific Theater Playbook: Creating Authentic, Meaningful and Inimitable Experiences" at the Themed Entertainment Association's SATE North America conference. The term “site-specific theater” refers to a play that can only be performed in one location and is impossible to transfer to any other venue. The production gains authenticity and meaning by operating outside of a conventional theater and leaning into what is unique (and often logistically challenging) about the location. Similarly, attractions outside of the major theme park hubs are often able to realize incredibly powerful experiences by embracing the specificity of their unique locations. Whether it’s access to natural resources, generations’ worth of stories, or even historical artifacts, smaller parks, museums, and immersive experiences can artfully and accurately reflect a specific community to create an experience that feels specific, special, and spectacular. Drawing from years of making successful experiences at intimate scales, this panel will share their best practices and strategies for design and operation, often transforming logistical challenges into guest highlights. #wemakeascene #employeespotlight #design #themedentertainment #TEAsate

Why do we have an attitude of gratitude today? Because over the last few weeks, we've had the opportunity to network with friends, colleagues and clients from Boston to Shanghai to Hong Kong to Amsterdam, thanks to IAAPA and the Themed Entertainment Association. These conferences not only provide us with opportunities to secure work, but they also enable us to discover new creative and business ideas, share knowledge, explore trends, and appreciate cultures, regions and perspectives outside of our own. A special thank you as well to these associations' generous sponsors, without whom these events would not be possible. It seems as soon as we land, we're taking off again, so watch this space for information on where you can find us next. ✈️ #themedentertainment #makeascene #wemakeascene Michael Blau Yi Zhou Tony Shortway Kevin Kalbfeld Brad Woods Jeff Moulton Clara Rice Gregory Almy Steve Howey
