This weekend, the Wareham Fire Department held an ice rescue drill on Tihonet Pond, simulating the rescue of a individual who fell through the ice. Training covered a range of skills including use of the ice sled, ice search and rescue, self-rescue techniques, and cold-weather patient care. The recent cold weather has allowed our team the perfect opportunity to get some important ice sanding done! Using custom-built buggies, we run over solid ice, scattering a thin layer of sand on the surface.
