Academy of Diagnostic and Osteopathic Medicine (ADOM)

ADOM is a non-radiative diagnostic medical school and osteopathic research center in Danbury, CT. Individuals with a HSD or GED can apply for career training. ADOM also offers a two day POCUS course - Vascular Mastery for Physicians. ADOM's first class of Diagnostic Medical Sonography students is set to commence on September 29th, 2024. For those that don't meet the college credit criteria, we will start two weeks earlier, on 9/9/24. At that time, we will cover the basics of anatomy and physiology, professional communication, cultural diversity, medical mathematics, general physics and acoustic physics. Then we move into the core classes including the history of ultrasound and radiation awareness. Radiation awareness is one of our personal favorites. Each student receives an EMF and a nuclear radiation Geiger counter. The first homework assignment is to find the most radioactive item where you live. It's a very interesting assignment that leads to learning about radiation in a unique and engaging way.
