  • Today, we are thrilled to highlight Angela Jensen, CSPDS, CFER, Sterile Processing Supervisor, Certified at Ochsner Rush Health in Mississippi. Her advice to those entering the profession is not only inspiring but a testament to her dedication to patient care: "Sterile processing may not be for everyone, but it is an exciting profession with many opportunities for growth, including professional certification(s), membership in local associations, as well as national memberships. This profession requires dedication, attention to detail, technical skills, physical stamina, communication skills, and a willingness to continue to grow and learn. Being successful in sterile processing also requires patience with yourself and others, a servant's heart, and a team player. You must be ready to adapt to the complex and ever-changing world of medical devices and use your knowledge and skills to ensure you are delivering clean, disinfected, and/or sterile devices for patient care. You should never be afraid to ask for help and always strive for excellence every day. Remember, what you do has a direct effect on patient outcomes." Angela, we celebrate your leadership, passion, and tireless commitment to ensuring the highest standards in sterile processing. Thank you for making a difference. • At ASP, we know that behind every successful procedure, there’s a team in sterile processing working tirelessly to ensure every instrument is ready for the next life-saving moment. This Sterile Processing Week, we’re proud to shine a light on the real heroes behind the scenes who make a difference every day. Today, we’re kicking it off with Amy Johnson, Central Sterile Supply - Manager at East Alabama Health. Amy is recognized as a top performer, known for her attention to detail and commitment to patient safety. Her director, Chris Watson shares, “She sets the expectation bar high for her staff and holds everyone accountable. There has been a noticeable difference with this management style and the amount of pride the staff take in their work. She is an amazing CSPD leader!” Amy’s passion for sterile processing runs deep: “Sterile Processing was my Plan B in case being a Scrub Tech did not work out and I fell in love with it. Sterile Processing is not for everyone, but when I started the job, I know it was the job for me. I have had the privilege and honor of being both a scrub tech and an instrument tech. There is just something special about working in SPD. What keeps me motivated each day is knowing the patient chose East Alabama Health to have their procedure/surgery performed here instead of somewhere else. Our hospital mission statement is to provide high quality compassionate healthcare. Because the patient chose EAH, I always want to provide high quality compassionate healthcare by ensuring that the patient has the right item/tray, at the right time, at the right place, in the right condition.” Thank you, Amy, for making a difference every day with your dedication and leadership. Stay tuned for more inspiring stories from our incredible customers throughout the week! 💙 #SPDWeek #SterileProcessingWeek #SPD #SterileProcessing #ThankYou #HealthcareHeroes #CustomerSpotlight

  • 🎉 Happy ASP Sterilization Day! 🎉 Traditionally celebrated on 10/6 to symbolize the critical sterility assurance level of 10⁻⁶—the optimal level of medical device sterilization— this year we’re marking the occasion on 10/7, giving everyone the opportunity to join the celebration. It’s more than just a number; it's a promise to protect patients during their most critical moments and ensure their safety through the power of sterilization. Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs) affect 1 in 31 U.S. hospital patients every day, leading to over 100,000 deaths annually. At ASP, this mission hits close to home. Many of us have personally felt the impact of HAIs, and that's why we remain relentless in our fight for better patient outcomes. This year, we’re proud to share a significant milestone: the FDA clearance of the ULTRA GI™ Cycle for the STERRAD™ 100NX Sterilizer with ALLClear™ Technology. This innovation delivers a heightened level of assurance that duodenoscopes are being sterilized in a safe and effective way, reducing the risk of cross-contamination. By integrating hydrogen peroxide gas plasma sterilization, we are raising the bar for patient safety and providing healthcare professionals worldwide with a reliable solution to improve outcomes. 🛡️ Our mission is clear: To prevent suffering and elevate the standard of care in healthcare facilities globally. Join us today in celebrating the unsung heroes—the sterilization professionals whose work ensures that behind every successful procedure, patients are protected. #ASPSterilizationDay #AdvancedSterilizationProducts #PatientSafety #SterilityAssurance #InfectionPrevention #SterilizationInnovation #HealthcareHeroes
