About us
AEA Consulting is one of the world’s leading cultural consulting firms. We have over two decades of experience assisting clients in the cultural sector internationally, helping them to define, plan, and achieve their long-term goals. Specialists in facilities, operational, and strategic planning, we collaborate with public and private cultural organizations and their funders in the U.S., U.K., Europe, Asia, and Australia to help them realize the contribution that culture can make to communities. We work with our clients from the initial conceptual planning of a project through feasibility studies and detailed planning to implementation and start up, advising and supporting them all along the way. AEA’s work stands on two foundations: a strong analytical approach, and a close understanding of and empathy for the goals of stakeholders in the cultural sphere. We approach problem-solving with curiosity, creativity and integrity, and our multi-disciplinary and multi-national team brings to our work a deep understanding of a wide range of cultural environments and issues.

AEA works with cultural leaders around the world and we’re sometimes asked about the differences between the financial support mechanisms of the arts in different countries. Here we outline the key distinctions between financial support systems in the U.S. vs the U.K. Read the full article by Adrian Ellis and Catalina Casas at: https://lnkd.in/gxd9sVFW

In celebration of 120 years of the NYC subway, the New York Transit Museum (NYTM) presents its latest exhibition, “The Subway Is…” which is featured in amNY Newspaper. AEA worked with NYTM last year to create a strategic plan to enhance its impact and role in telling the story of the importance of public transportation for New York. Our work began with stakeholder interviews and surveys, research, and case studies as inputs into a process with stakeholders that refined the Museum's mission and vision and explored how to address current opportunities and challenges by generating initiatives about how NYTM can reach new audiences, produce impactful and creative programming, and further its financial and organizational capacities.

The Financial Times’s ariella budick writes on ‘Why Buffalo AKG Art Museum Museum is New York’s next cultural destination’. Following a “ravishing” $230m restoration, the museum, formerly the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, is positioned as a key part of Buffalo's growing place as an arts destination. AEA has had the honor of working with the Buffalo AKG on a number of occasions, beginning in 2008 when AEA worked with the board and senior management on strategic facilities planning for the Gallery as it considered an expansion. This was followed in 2017 for an audience analysis project and in 2018 for a business and operating plan that leveraged the audience analysis to help the museum plan for both the post-opening and project period. We're happy to see both the AKG and Buffalo receive this well-deserved international attention!
