After nearly a decade as Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology at Temple University I am stepping down to pursue new adventures. I am profoundly grateful to the department's faculty and staff for their support during my tenure. They each give their heart and sole every single day to make Temple a great place to work and receive care. I am also extremely thankful to my successor, Dr. Yuliana Salamanca, for rising to the challenge with enthusiasm. My non-clinical intellectual efforts will now be devoted to the Aesculapian Consulting Group, an organization who's guiding principles and views on the future of medicine align precisely with my own.

Matt Mazurek, with the doom undoubtedly coming for specialty care in rural areas and even some mid-metro areas, where is the light at the end of the tunnel? Surely at some point there will be an opportunity amidst the chaos for independent groups led by independent doctors to emerge. As usual, your insights were spot on in Becker's Healthcare.
