About us
As a non-profit membership association dedicated to providing an ethical, interactive forum for sharing knowledge and building relationships across Government, Military, Industry and Academia, AFCEA Central Maryland (AFCEA CMD) chapter formed the Women In AFCEA (WIA) – Women in Intelligence Group (WIIG) in October 2007. This was in response to the need for a forum to address challenges and issues faced across our communities by the current generation of women in leadership roles and to develop the next generation of women leaders. Our Chapter focuses primarily on enabling the intelligence missions of today and tomorrow through education and investment in talented people. We are proud to be first established AFCEA chapter-level women’s group, while AFCEA CMD is the fastest growing and third largest chapter within AFCEA International today. WIA supports women served by the CMD chapter of AFCEA by offering a series of programs / subgroups where women of all career levels and disciplines from our communities gather to discuss and share experiences, lessons learned, best practices, network, and provide service and education to our community. WIA promotes continuing education of current IT professionals and supports the education of future women leaders in the CMD area who intend to pursue degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) related technical disciplines. WIA’s subgroups and areas of interest include: • WIA In A Minute Career Sharing Event • WIA Speaker Series Event • WIA Leadership Series Events • Professional Networking/Social Events • Education Programs including the DREAM scholarship To receive email updates about our events, sign up today and be sure to select to be a part of the WIA email list.
