AFCEA London Chapter - pre-Christmas Lunchtime Reception - 5th December - RAF Club 12:00 to 14:00 The fourth meeting for our 2024 / 2025 Season, will take the form of a pre-Christmas Lunchtime Reception. This will be held on Thursday 5th December, in the Battle of Britain Suite in the RAF Club, 128 Piccadilly, London W1J 7PY. The AFCEA London Chapter re-introduced this networking event last year and it proved popular, so we thought it worth running again. Our Guest Speaker will be Iain Standen, CEO of the Bletchley Park Trust, who will give a short presentation. The main purpose of the reception is to provide senior executives from our Corporate Membership and invited guests from MoD and Other Government Departments, with an opportunity to network with like-minded individuals in an informal environment. It is an ideal opportunity for our regular Industry attendees to invite their CEO and/or CIO along, who may not be familiar with AFCEA. Those who aren’t already AFCEA Individual or Corporate Members are most welcome to attend. Committee members will be circulating during the lunch, with some very persuasive reasons as to why you should join, or, in some cases, re-join! Please note that numbers will be limited to 50 – first come first served. Registrations are now open: https://lnkd.in/eg8vSMh2 Final bookings must be received by close of business on Friday 29th November.

AFCEA London Chapter November Meeting - Calling Notice The AFCEA London Chapter meeting for November 2024 will take place on Thursday 7th, when Rob Wright from Oxford Dynamics will be our guest speaker. Palo Alto have very kindly offered to host us again on the 55th floor at 22 Bishopsgate.   The meeting will be preceded by a short AGM and election of AFCEA London Chapter Officers. The title of Rob’s presentation will be “Avoiding an AI apocalypse: How can Defence procure and assure?”   Rob has a background in High Assurance network protection and now works for Oxford Dynamics, a provider of AI and robotics to MOD. He recently completed a secondment at the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology (DSIT), where he worked on the Software supply chain Code of Practice, with its related AI Safety Code of Practice. Rob will provide insight from his recent experience, changes in technology and the codes of practice and the impact on how Defence and government can procure and assure their tools. Attendees can expect to learn lessons from the cyber front line and how it intersects with the physical world, drawing on lessons from conflict in the Middle East and how the benefits of open source software and AI can be realised at pace to help analysts and decision makers alike have more time to make better decisions when it really matters. ++ For those who have been to 22 Bishopsgate before, you will be aware of the building security requirements and the need for a QR Code to access the entry barrier.  These codes are unique to the individual. Therefore we will need to provide the building security office with a list of all attendee names and individual email addresses. The access codes will then be sent to you directly from the security office.   Bookings are now open via the website here: https://lnkd.in/eg8vSMh2 . This is bound to be a topic that will interest a lot of people, so please register and pay promptly, as places are limited to a maximum of 60 attendees.  In the event that we are over-subscribed, we will operate a short waiting list.   The closing date is Friday 1st November.
