Paying off a mortgage is a great accomplishment, and for our member Karen in Winona, it also marks a great moment of change for her life. About a month before she expected to pay off her mortgage, Karen asked the folks at the Winona branch to help ensure it all went smoothly. Our Winona employees guided Karen through the process, ensuring everything was set for a seamless payoff. When Karen arrived to make her final payment, she was beaming with joy. And once it was complete, the Winona employees surprised her with flowers and confetti. As a single working mom, Karen said she hadn't received flowers in years and was deeply touched by the gesture. Paying off her mortgage coincides with her retirement as Dean of Students at Winona State, and Karen is moving back to Canada to be with her father. She hopes to find the perfect buyer for her beloved home where she raised her daughter. We're honored to be part of Karen's homeownership journey, and are ready to help you achieve your own life goals!

Financing and owning a home can be a complex process. In Rochester, Three Rivers Community Action is working to help people navigate this process through their Achieve Homeownership program, which connects participants with a mentor who shares similar lived experiences to help them navigate a sometimes intimidating process. The Affinity Plus Foundation is honored to announce the recent grant of $30,000 to Three Rivers' Achieve Homeownership program, specifically funding staffing support for the mentor initiative. With this grant from the Foundation, Three Rivers' will be able to expand homeownership for underserved communities throughout the Three Rivers network in Southeastern Minnesota.
