As we all know, the effect of redlining still exists, and it’s still affecting communities of color within the Boston area. Redlining is a policy enforced by banks and government agencies that deny loans, mortgages, and other financial services to people living in predominantly Black, Hispanic, and Indigenous neighborhoods. Although discriminatory practices such as these were banned over 50 years ago, minorities are still dealing with the consequences of redlining and the perpetuated cycles of inequality holding back the progress of these vibrant communities.
