The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s mission is to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide. The New York City Chapter brings that mission to the Big Apple through education, support, and advocacy programs. Our Out of the Darkness Walks bring New Yorkers who have been affected by suicide together in their boroughs each fall. In 2019, 4,000 New Yorkers raised nearly $500,000 for the fight to stop suicide. Money raised in NYC supports local suicide prevention programming, and helps AFSP fund mental health research around the world.
