Let’s dive into their findings and what that means for the podcast industry in 2023. “Consumer audio time will continue to increase and shift to digital; by 2026 63% of audio time will be digital.” That number is up from 51% in 2019, meaning listening behavior is moving from traditional radio. As a podcaster this will mean more people than ever are looking for quality digital audio content…maybe your show? In 2026 there are expected to be 159M average monthly podcast listeners. With more listeners come more ad revenue. “Ad spots increase in value as a result of the increased targeting and measurement capabilities dynamic ad insertion enables.” “64% of music listeners use multiple music service per month.” As a podcaster this means that you should be on every listening platform. Your favorite host says” rate and review wherever you get your podcast” for a reason. “Social media companies are increasing integrating podcasts into their platforms, driving new modes of podcast discovery and consumption.” Podcast discovery is one of the hardest parts of reaching new listeners. It is more important than ever to have a social media strategy to engage your audience to share your content.
