Excited to kick off the new academic year at the Yale SOM AI Association with an engaging session featuring Perplexity! We welcomed 80+ members from our community for an in-depth look at their innovative search and knowledge discovery platform. Greg Feingold shared how Perplexity is reimagining information discovery before showcasing their latest Spaces feature for collaborative knowledge sharing. Many thanks to two of our MBA students, Scott S. and Ash Duong, PE, for demonstrating how they use Perplexity in their day-to-day work. We're looking forward to more conversations about the intersection of AI and business throughout the year. Stay tuned!

Reflecting on the recent "Responsible AI in Global Business" conference, we’d like to recommend Jonathan Weisberg’s excellently-written article featured by Yale Insight that captures the key themes and thought-provoking insights from the conference. The author highlights how speakers delved into different angles dissecting the AI paradox of disruption and responsibility. Some insightful takeaways from the article: "If your focus is growth—and growth is the one thing that has brought improvements to the world…we have to do AI in the right, responsible way while accepting the disruption that it may present." - Rob Thomas, IBM "It can't be AI for AI's sake. The purpose of business ought to be to solve the problems of people and the planet profitably." - Sabastian Niles, Salesforce "We all have data profiles that are being built as we speak. Sitting here, right now, the data is being recalibrated on each one of us. I think that has both a wonderful implication, in terms of personalization journeys, and an alarming implication if everything you do, including microexpressions, gets measured and tracked." - Liz Grennan, McKinsey & Company "AI is, most of the time, making problems we already had worse or solutions we already had better. The difference is in terms of how much more intense the solution or the problem has become." - Luciano Floridi, Digital Ethics Center (DEC), Yale University at Yale Highly recommend reading Weisberg's article to learn more about the conference and the critical role of responsible AI in global business: https://lnkd.in/grSR4Xkw What are your thoughts on the role of AI in business? Let's continue the conversation in the comments.

We’re highly honored to have David Kenny for a fireside chat proceeding our Responsible AI in Global Business Conference Yale University. David’s career in leading Nielsen, IBM Watson, The Weather Company, has always been at the very frontier of the evolution of data analytics and AI in business. His candid reflections cut through the AI hype, offering a grounded perspective on its real impact and potential, helping us look beyond the noise.
It was a honor to kick off Yale University’s Global Conference for Responsible AI with my dear friend Jon Iwata. The cross-discipline discussion is certain to lead to more responsible guidelines and collaboration as AI helps virtually field advance more rapidly.

Thank you Rob Thomas for delivering an insightful opening keynote at our Responsible AI in Global Business Conference! Your speech offered a comprehensive view of how AI is perceived and prioritized at the highest levels of organizations. It delved into the rationale and methods behind AI's development and deployment across various industries and geographies. These perspectives outline the big-picture reasons why AI is both beneficial and necessary, while also charting a course for responsible navigation in its implementation. #ibm #ResponsibleAI #GlobalBusiness #AIInsights #InnovationLeadership #TechConference

Thank you Jim Swanson for your insightful key note at the Responsible AI Conference. Your sharing perfectly showcased the opportunities and challenges that AI imposed to global enterprise like Johnson & Johnson whose digital ecosystem connects millions of employees and patients everyday. #AIInsights #GlobalEnterprise #DigitalEcosystem #JohnsonAndJohnson #HealthcareAI #AIChallenges #DigitalTransformation #YaleUniversity
I captured so many important takeaways from the Yale School of Management Responsible AI in Global Business conference last week. With #AI top of mind for many of us in #technology, #healthcare, and just about every other industry, we all need to learn from one another on how we can apply it responsibly and practically to drive outcomes that matter. A few highlights from the event: - We need to continue to keep “humans in the middle” as we experiment with new technology. We have a long way to go before we can fully rely on outputs generated by AI – and we’ll always need humans at the center - Upskilling the entire workforce on digital topics is essential. At @Johnson & Johnson, we’ve identified AI as a priority skill, and we are dedicating resources toward employee education to ensure responsible and productive AI adoption - Make sure you consider the business value of emerging areas like Generative AI, rather than pursuing technology for technology’s sake. If the hype curve always played out, we’d all have appeared at the conference as avatars in the metaverse. Don’t underestimate the power of traditional AI and machine learning, which are delivering transformative impact across industries. Thanks to Josh Kampel for an insightful discussion on stage and to Jon Iwata for inviting me to participate in this forum. I look forward to continuing to collaborate to advance the use of AI with purpose in business. #MyCompany #ArtificialIntelligence #techforgood
