🎉 Celebrate 70 Years of the Wisconsin Architects Foundation (WAF) with us! WAF President Dave Peterson, AIA Emeritus, has pledged to match every donation, up to $30,000, through the end of 2024. With our goal set at $70,000, your support is crucial to helping us reach this milestone. If each of our 1,600+ members donates just $25, we’ll unlock the full match AND reach our $70k goal—and your gift will have double the impact! Now is the time to make a difference. Hear from Dave himself on what inspired this incredible pledge: "The Wisconsin Architects Foundation (WAF) is celebrating 70 years this year, so I will match every member donation up to $30,000 to help raise $70,000 to celebrate its support of the profession in many ways. Why am I doing this? Let me explain why. Architecture has been good to me. It began when Edward Sovik, FAIA, St. Olaf’s college architect, Northfield, MN, taught a few architectural courses I decided to take. After graduating with Art and Chemistry majors, I enrolled at the University of Illinois’ School of Architecture. [The] Vietnam War came calling. Two years later I returned. I was surprised to learn that vets received full tuition. I also had GI benefits too. So my EDUCATION was FREE. Around 1980 I was asked to teach a course in University of Wisconsin-Stout’s Construction Department. I ended up teaching part-time there until I retired in 2010. During my tenure, military service personnel from the Iraq War were in my classes. They did not have the same deal I received. I contacted my local state Senator to help change the process. The law was changed and students started to receive free tuition in Wisconsin schools. I was very pleased to have students in my classes receiving this benefit. I have enjoyed my time as a WAF board member. So, it’s my turn to give back to move WAF forward to support its goals. It could be your turn too." Donate today and help us unlock the full potential of the $30k match before the end of 2024! ➡️ Visit donatetowaf.org to donate today. ⬅️
