🧑🎓Airmen with doctoral degrees make up just .007 percent of the Air Force enlisted population. In a service with 260,000 enlisted, there has never been a period where even 100 held doctorates, and most years this stat is in the single digits. Well, we're proud to add one AFMC Airman to the .007% club. Huge congrats to the 412th Test Wing, Edwards Air Force Base's Chief Master Sgt. Jermaine King, the Senior Enlisted Advisor for the 412th Mission Support Group who completed his doctorate in education, becoming one of the elite few enlisted who can add "doctor" before his name. How did he get to this point? King joined the Air Force as a chance to escape the lack of opportunity inner city life brought before him. He was in the military 13 years before he decided to get his Community College of the Air Force degree. A position in career advising at Joint Base San Antonio spurred his decision to pursue a Master’s degree in Organizational Development and Leadership, leading him to take positions teaching as an Adjunct Professor of MBA, leadership, human resources, project management, and emergency management at five universities and to subsequently pursue his doctorate. Finally, after years of dedication and passion King has a doctorate degree in education. What an inspiring #Airman! Let's give a big round of applause for Air Force Sustainment Center's Edgar Magallanes -- a 2024 recipient of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Technical Achievement and Recognition (STAR) Award for Managerial Excellence (Government). According to SHPE, the award is intended to celebrate outstanding professionals, companies, and government agencies for their efforts to advancing Hispanics in STEM careers. Magallanes is an electronics engineer for the 558th Software Engineering Squadron at Tinker Air Force Base and got his start in Air Force Civilian Service through the PALACE Acquire program, which is a paid, full-time, two to three-year training program for college graduates who are interested in career fields in science and engineering, financial management, cyber/IT, civil engineering, and intelligence, and more. He specializes in mission computing and used his technical knowledge to simplify the process of bringing in new hires, for which he was nominated by his supervisor for the STAR award. 👍Clean energy for the win! Unlike traditional geothermal techniques that rely on rare geological formations of hot water and steam that limit their use, geopressured geothermal systems repurpose cutting-edge fracking technology to extract thermal energy from miles below the Earth’s surface. If successful, the demonstration could lead to a full-scale project at Ellington Field Joint Air Reserve Base in Houston, Texas, that would usher in a new era of clean-power producing plants that meet the entire energy needs of installations in the DAF. #science #energy #cleanenergy #defense #contract

⭐Gold Star ⭐ mothers and families suffer a loss too terrible for most people to imagine. #DYK The origin of what would become Gold Star Mother’s and Family’s Day started with a simple accessory: a black armband with a gilt star. During World War I, family members would wear these armbands to represent a loved one who had died in the war. The stars were later often displayed on banners in windows or hung on front doors. Banners with blue stars represented immediate family members who were serving. Some would have one star; others would have two or three. The stars symbolized the people who were supposed to be home but were missing from the dinner table. If a family member died during their service, the blue star would be replaced with a gold one ⭐. On Gold Star Mother's and Family's Day, we honor those who have lost a loved one in service to our Nation. May the memories of their loved ones live forever in the hearts ❤️of all. #Milestone The Arnold Engineering Development Complex played a significant role in the development of the XB-70 planned supersonic bomber, which made its maiden flight 60 years ago this month. And, although only two were ever built, the XB-70 has seemingly achieved a legendary status in the pantheon of military flying machines. #history #USAF #AFMC
