Airborne Systems is honored to have worked closely with NASA Langley to apply this expertise by supporting many HIAD technology development programs, including LOFTID. Airborne Systems manufactured, assembled, and packed the inflatable structure, as well as supported the integration of the flexible thermal protection system, textile deployment mechanism, hosing, and instrumentation. This mission was a significant step forward for the technology, marking the first time a softgoods textile aeroshell successfully reentered from orbital velocity. 🔥 🛡 Our team appreciated the challenge involved in rigging and packing a large 6-meter diameter aeroshell into a small ~50-inch diameter pack volume.
