  • AirVent Seminar in Fort Worth Results... Thank you to the 60 roofing pros who filled our "Attic Ventilation: Ask the Expert" Seminar room this morning. This was our 2nd-ever visit to this area. We may need to add Fort Worth to the regular rotation of seminar cities! Question of the Day: "When you made the Hip Ridge Vent was it supposed to be installed the length of the diagonal hip?" Answer: Yes. For best appearance it was recommended to run the Hip Ridge Vent the entire length of the hip even though the airflow slot for the vent STOPPED at the halfway point of the hip length. Friday our seminar heads to the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine/Dallas. Next week we visit Indy, Tinley Park, Schaumburg, and Milwaukee. Join us. They're FREE. AirVent Seminar in Houston, TX Results... Thank you to the 100 roofing pros who attended our "Attic Ventilation: Ask the Expert" Seminar in Houston yesterday. The room was packed and so was the Q & A session! Question of the Day: "Why do you rank power fans 2nd to ridge vents on a roof with a long horizontal peak? Power fans move a lot of air fast." Answer: Power fans do move a lot of air fast, faster than any of the five categories of attic exhaust vents (gable louvers, wind turbines, ridge vents, box vents/off-ridge vents/dormer vents) BUT... They do not "run" 24/7. When a power fan is not running it is essentially a large box vent. Ridge vents "run" all day long. They do not rely on a motor. Warm air rises and exits the ridge vent throughout the day. And if it has an external wind baffle, the ridge vent uses the slightest wind speed to pull additional air of the attic. Secondly, power fans funnel the air through one opening (or however many fans are installed on the roof). They leave small hot pockets of unvented areas (as do gable vents, wind turbines, box vents). Ridge vents (because they are installed uniformly along the entire peak of the roof) leave zero hot pockets. Tomorrow our seminar visits Tyler, TX for the first time. Then we're off to Fort Worth (February 5) and Grapevine/Dallas (February 7). Sessions continue through April 18, 2025. They're FREE. • AirVent Seminar in Austin, TX Results... Our first-ever "Attic Ventilation: Ask the Expert" Seminar in the Austin area (Round Rock) was a hit! Thank you to the 40 roofing pros who attended our session and kept the Q & A flowing. Question of the Day: "When calculating the number of attic vents needed do you factor in roof pitch/attic volume?" Answer: Building Code does not but AirVent does. Our calculating tools all include 3 roof pitch ranges to choose from. Up to 6/12 roof pitch the number of vents are based on 1/150 ratio period. 7/12 to 10/12 we increase the quantity 20% to account for the larger volume in the attic. 11/12+ we increase the quantity 30%. Tomorrow the seminar heads to Houston. Friday we're in Tyler. Next week we hit Fort Worth and Grapevine/Dallas. It's our Texas Tour along the 13-week Tour. FREE seminars continue across North America through April 18, 2025. Sign up within the Learning Hub @ https://lnkd.in/gA-FDm4F
