The Alabama Association of Nonprofits (AAN) was created in 1996 as the Nonprofit Resource Center of Alabama (NRCA). At the end of that year, we had 150 member organizations. By the end of 1998 NRCA had 250 member organizations, and by 2000 we had over 350. While membership dropped off during the pandemic, we are growing again with over 525 members from across Alabama. Innovate Alabama serves as a comprehensive resource that connects communities, nonprofits and higher education institutions across the state who are fostering innovation in their own backyard. Through this designation program, Innovate Alabama recognizes those who are shaping the state's ecosystem. They've provided $17M in funding to 112 designees across Alabama and YOUR ORGANIZATION COULD BE NEXT! Their next grant cycle is scheduled to open in October! AAN wants to encourage folks to head to the Secretary of State’s website to register to vote and learn more about the upcoming elections this fall. Independent Sector says, “While trust in nonprofits increased by 5 points to 57%, trust in other sectors — like government, business, and media — declined, leaving nonprofits the most trusted sector in the 2024 survey.” We also encourage Alabama’s trusted nonprofits to use their nonpartisan voice by sending their clients to the Secretary of State’s website, too. #thrivingdemocracy #vote #AlabamaNonprofits #educate #advocate #elevate

GRANT OPPORTUNITY! HBCU-UP offers awards to enhance STEM undergraduate education and research at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) through various support tracks. These tracks include Targeted Infusion Projects (TIP) for short-term goals, Research on Broadening Participation in STEM projects (BPR) focusing on underrepresented groups, Research Initiation Awards (RIA) for faculty research, Implementation Projects (IMP) for institutional efforts, and Broadening Participation Research Centers (BPRC) for research centers.
