Last week was a big week for our bankers enrolled in Alabama Banking School. On Thursday Senator Katie Britt joined us at the school to meet with each of our classes and see how our school runs. Her time with the group was filled with open discussions on the challenges and opportunities facing our industry. Senator Britt's commitment to supporting Alabama’s banking community and her insights on financial policy are invaluable as we continue to advocate for a stronger economic future. We had a great group in Gulf Shores last week with nearly 70 participants from 64 banks attending our Compliance College! 🎓✨ A huge shoutout to Rebekah Leonard and Carl Pry for leading the event, which featured in-depth discussions on identifying and mitigating emerging compliance risks. To keep things fun, our facilitators organized a scavenger hunt, challenging attendees with lending compliance puzzles and riddles. 🕵️♂️🔍 Another highlight was our regulatory panel, featuring experts from the FDIC, OCC, Federal Reserve, and the Alabama State Banking Department. Nearly 100 bankers joined us for a fantastic luncheon last Friday, featuring Federal Reserve Board Governor Michelle “Mikki” Bowman and U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville. Sen. Tuberville kicked things off with a political briefing, followed by a dynamic Q&A session with Gov. Bowman, led by ABA’s Scott Latham. They covered crucial topics like the nation’s economic outlook, industry regulations, central bank digital currency, fraud, cybersecurity, and Basel III capital standards. Gov. Bowman, on her first official visit to Alabama, engaged with bankers before and after the event and met with our executive committee. She voiced strong support for community and regional banks, highlighting the challenges they face in today’s regulatory environment. A big thank you to Sen. Tuberville and his senior economic advisor, Emory Cox, for hosting Gov. Bowman on her two-day visit to Alabama. We appreciate your support!

B2L’s leadership peer group met yesterday for peer-led discussions about a variety of topics including leadership challenges, fostering professionalism and organizational well-being. After the meeting, the members enjoyed a round of networking at Top Golf ⛳️. This group is open to all graduates of the Bank Executive Leadership Certification Program and meets twice a year.

🌟 Ignite Conference 2024 Recap! 🌟 Over the past two days, nearly 200 attendees gathered at the Westin in Huntsville for our annual Ignite conference. On Wednesday, we kicked off with George Wright’s insightful session on Strategic Thinking and Decision-Making. Attendees then had the opportunity to choose from various breakout sessions across four tracks and engage with vendors during our Rocket Rounds sessions. Today, we started with an inspiring talk by Donny Ingram on Winning the BATTLE. The learning continued with more breakout sessions, and as a special thank you for participating in Rocket Rounds, attendees ended the afternoon with a Maui Jim sunglass fitting, taking home their very own pair. 😎 Thank you to everyone who attended and made this event a success! 🎉

Our Alabama bankers had another productive day in Washington, D.C., as part of the Alabama Bankers Association's 🇺🇸DC Fly In🇺🇸. They met with several key legislators, including Senators Mike Rogers, Tommy Tuberville, and Katie Britt, to discuss pressing issues affecting the banking industry. We are thankful for the time they took to speak with our group as these meetings are crucial for ensuring that Alabama’s banking community remains informed and engaged with legislative developments that impact their operations and customers. Yesterday, our 🇺🇸DC Fly In 🇺🇸continued with ABA bankers on Capitol Hill for a productive afternoon, meeting with Rep. Terri Sewell, Rep. Jerry Carl, Rep. Dale Strong, and Rep. Barry Moore to discuss key issues impacting our industry. The day wrapped up with an insightful dinner alongside Rep. Robert Aderholt and Rep. Gary Palmer.
